![]() ![]() ![]() Take a look around the new digs below, and let us know what you think if you stop by. The newly renovated space has architectural elements from the 20 Elizabeth Street location, capacity for 125 seats, and is often transformed into a unique venue for weddings, birthdays, special events, corporate and holiday parties. Jing Fong UWS will officially open Wednesday, July 26 offering dim sum all day, every day. Joes, which has moved from its longtime location on Pell Street to a spot over on Bowery, is the perfect place for a quick lunch. In December 2021, Jing Fong re-opened in Chinatown at 202 Centre Street. Menu items from the flagship like Peking pork chop, honey walnut prawns, and beef chow fun have all made the trip to the Upper West Side. When the Lam family bought the restaurant in 1993, they later moved Jing Fong to its current Chinatown home at 20 Elizabeth, which occupies over 20,000 square feet. Toward the back, a 12-seat counter overlooks the open kitchen that flanks the 50-seat dining room. The new digs still feature Jing Fong’s trademark red, but there are softer touches of white and wood panels throughout. The 2,000-square-foot space at 380 Amsterdam Avenue is more modern in design than the Chinatown outpost, often likened to a banquet hall. This is the first expansion since Jing Fong opened its first location nearly 40 years ago in Chinatown. It’s smaller than the flagship on Elizabeth Street, the Chinatown mainstay known for its dim sum carts and lively brunches. ![]() Every bite of my favorite dim sum item: steamed buns, dumplings, tarts and/or rice rolls never fails to bring back childhood memories of large dining halls with push cart dim sum ferrying delicious, fresh and succulent protein -filled bites of Cantonese chefs' best. The Upper West Side location of Jing Fong opens today, offering limited hours and a limited menu. Jing Fong's dim sum is outstanding to say the least. ![]() ![]() ![]() I recommend playing this game 100%, but I have an idea for an update: Online Playing! By default, all peer-to-peer transactions on Venmo are displayed on Venmo’s social news feed. Consumers’ access to funds wasn’t the FTC’s only concern. The FTC alleges that Venmo’s failure to adequately disclose to consumers that funds could be frozen or removed from their accounts was deceptive. The complaint alleges that even in the face of mounting consumer complaints, Venmo continued to claim – without any qualifiers – that once money was credited to consumers’ Venmo accounts, users could transfer it to their bank accounts. Many people reported that the company’s practices resulted in significant financial hardship – for example, not being able to pay their rent even though it appeared they had enough in their Venmo account to cover it. Those delays and losses led thousands of consumers to complain to Venmo. For many consumers, once Venmo undertook that review, it resulted in delaying the transfer or even reversing the transaction altogether. That’s because Venmo waited until a consumer attempted to transfer funds to his or her external bank account to review the transaction for fraud, insufficient funds, or other problems. The complaint alleges that in many instances, consumers weren’t able to transfer funds as promised. According to the complaint, the company’s representations led many consumers to believe that when they received payment notifications from Venmo, the funds were ready to be transferred to their bank account. The biggest question after the show(s) was: why is it 30fps on Xbox Series X and Series S and not 60fps? In this IGN Performance preview, we dive into the details shared by the team, the revealed PC minimum and recommended specifications, and how the Creation Engine 2 works, comparing the previous games to gauge some of the potential reasons why the team might have chosen 30fps. With Starfield being the center of the Xbox 2023 Showcase last week, Bethesda gave us a deep dive into one of the biggest games this generation. And, particularly annoying, the game doesn't give ducking a button of its own, which makes dodging bullets and sword stabs a pain in the neck on small ledges since Jackie will simply drop down a level to hang onto the edge while the guard below stabs him in the belly. ![]() Boss battles are just slugfests, some of which may prove too difficult to brawl through for young gamers even though the rest of the game is a cakewalk. The fighting system are pretty much a choice of four button-mashing maneuvers that can't be combo'ed, and the jumping control is sometimes unreliable. The platform hopping gives a little depth to the game - the most pleasant surprise in the whole thing was when I was able to drop down underneath a moving train and explore underneath it while hanging just above the speeding track - but that's about it. The final motion isn't too bad - they even captured sprites to detail some unique actions out of Jackie's repertoire, such as the wobbling tightrope walk while going across a short ledge - but there's still not much of it here to praise. And, for some strange reason, the sprites are again drawn almost pure black - here, it's as if the artists creating the animation frames forgot to turn on a light while snapping the digital shots. These character sprites are jagged representations of the human form, with almost zero detail to distinguish each from another. With a little bit more expression from the sprites and digital stills, I might have been able to figure out what the heck is supposed to be going on, but it didn't really matter - all you need to know is that there are baddies to punch in the face and little blue tokens to pick up.Īs far as visuals go, developer Saffire trots out the digitized sprite rendering technique it used on Van Helsing, and again, it's almost enough for you to give up your love for sprites and call 2D a dead artform. The game's story makes only the faintest of sense, with inanimate digital stills (even when things go south, there's Jackie, smiling away.) trying to give life to the text. ![]() ![]() The makers should have instead waited for the DVD release instead - not that they had a great game to polish up here in the first place, but just a tiny bit more work to get rid of the more awkward parts of the control would have made this whiff of a game blow over a little easier.Īs Passepartout, the French valet of curious genius Phieas Fogg, you'll find yourself having to beat the tar out of thugs from all parts of the word in this side-scrolling beat-em-up that strains to recall Prince of Persia. No other restriction is given except that you need to take that Attack action with a monk weapon or unarmed strike. Here we see that you can make an unarmed strike as a bonus action after taking an Attack action. For example, if you take the Attack action and attack with a quarterstaff, you can also make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, assuming you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn. When you use the Attack action with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon on your turn, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action. details monk-specific differences that overrule the more general rules on page 195. Also, all characters are proficient with unarmed strikes. It's clear that unarmed strikes can come from multiple parts of the body. You are proficient with your unarmed strikes. On a hit, an unarmed strike deals bludgeoning damage equal to 1 + your Strength modifier. Instead of using a weapon to make a melee weapon attack, you can use an unarmed strike: a punch, kick, head-butt, or similar forceful blow (none of which count as weapons). The rules for unarmed strikes, by all characters, are on page 195: Would that also mean that if a monk is wielding a quarterstaff with two hands, he could open with an attack of damage, followed by an unarmed strike of damage with a bonus action (using Martials Arts) ?įirst, nothing says you need to have a hand free, so we can stop worrying about that. Am I missing any implied restrictions here? Or is a Monk somehow able to hold a two-handed weapon and still make use of Flurry of Blows ? If that is the case, I am to believe the unarmed strike from FoB would not be considered as weapons. ![]() If one is using a Versatile weapon, can he attack using both hands, making the damage 1d8 and still make use of his additional unarmed strike(s)?Īdditional remark: The extra unarmed strike granted by Flurry of Blows has no restrictions regarding the weapon(s) held. However, there are some gray areas I can't find any answers to.įor example, the Monk class allows a player to add an additional unarmed strike to his Attack action, as a bonus action. What are the global restrictions of making an unarmed strike? As it is considered a weapon, I suppose one must have a "hand free" to "punch". ![]() ![]() ![]() That relationship has obviously been fundamental to Syal, since her Punjabi parents upped sticks from Delhi and chose to settle in Wolverhampton, before she was born. One of my favourite books is The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and in the collision of those two things I could see a new way of writing about the relationship between India and England.” At that point I hadn’t known India had the biggest surrogacy industry in the world. So she sits comparatively carefree in the sun outside the Flask in Highgate, north London, wondering a bit what she might do next. For the first part of that run she was making final edits to her third novel, The House of Hidden Mothers, a compelling story of surrogacy in London and Delhi, which was completed alongside filming of the second series of Broadchurch, in which Syal played the judge. The play is an adaptation of Katharine Boo’s book about life in a Mumbai slum and has been on at the National Theatre – “quite a curious marriage on paper,” Syal says with a grin, “but it works incredibly well”. For the previous six months she has been starring nightly – as an exuberantly foul-mouthed mother – in David Hare’s acclaimed play Behind the Beautiful Forevers.
